Great news for research at La Tulipe! The Experimental Ophthalmology group has secured funding from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) for its new GeNerve project, which will run for four years, from 2027 to 2030.
This ambitious project aims to advance an innovative non-viral gene therapy approach for atrophic age-related macular degeneration (aAMD), a condition that progressively affects vision.
Building on the Sleeping Beauty transposon platform, GeNerve will use complementary experimental models, including human retinal co-cultures and mouse disease models, to evaluate the efficacy, tolerability and safety of this approach. The project will also help prepare the next steps towards potential clinical translation.
This SNSF funding represents an important recognition of the quality and potential of this research, contributing to the development of new therapeutic approaches for retinal diseases.
The Fondation pour Recherches Médicales warmly congratulates the entire Experimental Ophthalmology team on securing this funding! We are proud to host research groups at La Tulipe whose work advances biomedical science and opens new perspectives for patients.
Congratulations to the entire team, and every success with the GeNerve project!
